Painting with Sound

Umm how freaking amazing are these photographs of paint on a speaker!

German photographer, Martin Klimas, creates these images by putting different colors of paint on top of a speaker, and turning the volume up! The vibration shoots the paint up, creating these amazing patterns and forms.

Check out the rest of Martin's work here.

Disco Fever

I don't know what sparked my new obsession because I have never even seen Saturday Night Fever, but I am really jazzin' on Disco Balls this week.  Incorporating them in your decor just gives the perfect glam to any room.

February Book Club

Our second Book Club was a success! We read Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling, writer, producer, and actor from "The Office". It is a hilarious trip through Kaling's life, as well as her opinions about friends, guys, fashion, relationship, and Hollywood.  There were so many funny parts that I couldn't wait to chat about with my friends, and I found out they all came with a slew of Mindy's thoughts they wanted to discuss as well.

We had some great apps and wine again, and we all agreed we should jump on the bandwagon, and our next book will be Hunger Games, so we can finish just in time for the movie. I am excited to see what all the hype is about.

Here is the trailer for the movie if you haven't seen it yet.

The story behind the popular saying "Keep Calm and Carry on"

This cute video just made me appreciate the saying that much more.  How fun are these spin off's?

Meatball Crescent Sliders

We were looking for a last minute appetizer for Book Club last week, and came across this version of meatball sliders. We already had half of the ingredients so it was perfect, and they were delicious!

Ingredients*
1 bag of frozen meatballs (32 meatballs)
1 jar of pasta sauce
2 cans of refrigerated crescent rolls
11 slices of mozzerella cheese

* I halved the recipe to cater to a smaller group.

Preat oven to 375 degrees.

Simmer meatballs and sauce over low heat until warmed though, about 5-10 minutes.

Separate the crescent rolls into traingles, and cut each one in half. (you should have 16 triangles from each can.)

Cut the mozzarella slices into thirds. Put a third of each slice on each crescent roll.

Put a meatball and a little sauce on top of each crescent roll, and fold in the corners to roll up as best as you can. (You might have to stetch the corners out a little bit, but don't worry about making them look perfect, they will puff up a little while baking).

Bake at 375 for for 15-18 minutes, until the rolls are golden brown and cheese is melted.

Serve and enjoy!

Happy Leap Day

Happy Leap Day! February 29th, a day that only comes once every 4 years, and most people probably don't think anything of it, unless it's your birthday! What is a leap year exactly ?

In mundane terms, it marks a "leap" in time, when the calendar is adjusted to make up for extra seconds accumulated over the preceding three years due to the rotation of the earth.

"Use this day to do something daring, extraordinary and unlike yourself. Take a chance and shape a different pattern in your personal cloud of probability" -Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration

Asiago Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli

We were looking for a side dish to go with our Slow Cooker Parmesan Honey Pork Roast and came across this mashed potato recipe. Who doesn't love mashed potatoes? I love finding new ways to jazz them up, or sneak in some green veggies like this recipe. These turned out great, and I think we will definitely make them again.

Ingredients
8-10 small red potatoes
2 cups broccoli florets
4 tbs butter
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup Asiago cheese

Bring slightly salted water to boil in a medium pot.

Peel potatoes, or leave skin on if you prefer (like we do), and quarter them. Cut off the stems of the broccoli and roughly chop into small chunks.

Boil the broccoli and potatoes together for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until potatoes are soft.

Drain the veggies and return to pot, add butter, cream, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Use an electric mixer or potato masher and blend the ingredients until smooth.

Add the asiago cheese, season to taste and serve!

These paired perfectly with our pork and some grilled balsamic asparagus.
