DIY Photo Transfer to Wood

I attempted my first photo transfer since my High School photography classes, and I am very happy with the results. Transferring photos to wood is a really neat (and cheap) way to display your favorite photos. Now that I have made this one, I want to keep making more, it just looks so cool and so advanced, when it is so simple! It still boggles my mind how this gel can pull the picture off the paper!

You will need:

a piece of wood

optional wood stain & rag or sock

your photo printed on a laser printer

scissors

paint brush

matte gel

gift card/credit card

towel

Mod Podge or Spray Coating

2 leveling picture hangers

Falling For Fall

Happy September! As if I weren't ready enough for fall, I found these beautiful photos by Christopher Jonassen, in his series called "The Fall".

I'm ready for cool weather, colorful leaves, boots, sweaters, anything and everything pumpkin flavored, and of course HALLOWEEN (I know it's a little premature, but it's my favorite Holiday so I get excited pretty early on!)

23 more days until the official first day of fall, but I'm hoping we see some signs a little sooner!

I am obsessed with the instagram app on my iPhone, and I use it all the time. I never really do anything with the pics though. I'll create a phone background, or use the pics on here, but I never print them or anything. I found this awesome site called StickyGram that turns your instagram pics into magnets!

StickyGram prints your instagrams on a 50 mm x 50 mm flexible magnet. They come in packs of 9, and cost $14.99 + free shipping. These would look so cute on the fridge, locker, file cabinets, bulletin boards, where ever you can stick 'em.

Recovering Lazyholic

We've all got a little lazy in us, some more than others. These "Reminders" from photographer, Erin Hanson are so great! She refers to her series as Childish Treatment for Childish Behavior, ha I love that. I think we could all use these little reminders once in a while.

The Perfect Pothole

A Canadian couple has completely blown my mind with this innovative photography series.  My Potholes is a project that is fueled by their quest to find the "perfect pothole."  My favorite part of the entire project is that most of the shots are completely improvised on set.  The artists states that "camera placement and model angles and direction are discussed on the set, we didn't use photoshop to create the image or add props.  Since the POTHOLES series is shot entirely on location during uninterrupted traffic, vigilance is key."

Mamika & Papika...Grandma's Superhero Therapy

How awesome is this series by French photographer, Sacha Goldberger? The story is even cooler! Goldberger took these pictures to cheer up his 91-year-old grandmother who was lonely and depressed.

This one is from the newest series featuring Mamika's new boyfriend, Papika. Too funny! With the success of the first series, Goldberger created a MySpace page for his grandmother. With over 2,000 friends, she receives congradulatory and inspirational messages, reminding her how lucky she is.

This one is my favorite!
