Cinnamon Roll Coffee Cake

I love the recipes that Val posts on her blog, ValSoCal . Came across this coffee cake recipe and new I had to try it. I don't really bake a lot, but figured this was easy enough, and it would probably taste good no matter what.

Ingredients
1 tube Large refrigerated cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing (I used 2 tubes, to fill in holes)
2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
3 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional, I left these out)
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup quick cooking oats
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
3 Tbsp butter, melted
whipped cream and additional cinnamon for topping (option, I also left these off)

Stevie Knows Best

and it is her Birthday!  Stevie Nicks has always been a favorite of mine, with or without Fleetwood Mac she rocks.  She has been a style icon her whole career and has been an inspiration to so many.  Her approach to life, her music and her wardrobe has such a free spirit. Below are a few memorable looks of hers including sheer fabrics with tons of layers, thigh high boots, feathered hair and crop tops.

Overland Park Farmers Market

This past Saturday was the perfect day to go check out one of the many local Famers Markets that we have here in Kansas City. I chose the Overland Park Farmers Market because it is only a few miles from my house, but I have heard great things about the City Market in downtown Kansas City too!

There were tons of people, produce, flowers and live music!

Shopping local is a great way to support your community, as well as keep your wallet full! I found some great produce while I was at the market as well as some new yummy smelling soap and lip balm.

Summer Succotash

Our arugula is groing crazy in our back yard so we were looking for a new arugula recipe to try. I came across this Summer Succotash at smittenkitchen.com. It was a great fresh Summer/Spring dish. We substituted the shell beans for edamame, and left out the bacon. It was delicious, and i would recommend it as a must-try summer side dish!

Cruisin' into the Weekend

I have serious bike envy.  I am on a hunt for a cute cruiser and these three are definitely at the top of my list.  How fun would it be to ride around town with a mailbox as a basket!  Have a fun weekend from all of us at Pretty Penny.

Lil' Guys

Just came across the most adorable terrariums I have ever seen.  I need to get my hands on one of these or find a DIY and fix my very own desert in a glass.

Chefs with a Dash of Fame

Both Eva Longoria and Gwyneth Paltrow have recently published cookbooks that have a strong sense of where they came from by including family recipes.

Missoni at Home (and Target)

Obsessed with Missoni's home collection. The colors and patterns are just awesome. I want it all, but can't afford any of it! Luckily Missoni is collaborating with Target to launch a home and fashion line. Oh man I can't wait, but we will have to, until September 13th that is.

Bringing the Outdoors In

All this rain has definitely made our lawn look full and green! We thought we would bring some of the bright springy look/smell into the house. We don't have any plants in our house other than fresh flowers, but this grass is so easy to maintain and it took no time before we had to start trimming it!

We found this little planter at Good Ju Ju and thought it would be perfect for our adult chia pet project.

We also planted the grass in an extra hurricane that we had. I just love that you can see the roots.

This was so easy. We just got some soil and bought cat grass at the hardware store. We put it by the kitchen window and kept the soil damp. Megan had a great idea to put a couple ice cubes on top of the soil when we left for work, so it gradually watered the soil as the ice cubes melted. I felt like a little kid checking for sprouts every morning and night, the anticipation just killing me. The grass started sprouting after about 5 days, then it just went crazy! I  You can grow this in pretty much any container you would like.

Don't We All Need One of These

Now if that is not lazy, I don't know what is! Artist, Mike Bouchet turned an ordinary shopping cart into this "sun lounger". What would you think if you saw someone in one of these at the grocery store... jealousy maybe?

Pretty as a Pixel

How interesting is this collection by Japanese Fashion Designer, Kunihiko Morinaga, that she showcased at a Tokyo Fashion Event.  The pixelated pattern made its debut in pant-suits, dresses, tights, athletic sweatshirts and shoes.

Inspired by pixels I also came across these Pixel People

The Style of Music

As you can tell we are all very into music.  When I came across these prints I totally fell for them.  What a better combo than clothes and music I seriously can't think of anything!

Check them out, Moxy Creative House really hit it out of the park with this one.
